Scope of Business
Research Applications designs and manufactures electronic products from scratch. Work at RAi encompasses the full range of development, manufacturing, marketing, and service. Product conception, prototyping, production hardware and software, and project management are directly done or controlled by RAi staff. Consultants under direct supervision are routinely and extensively used for specialty design purposes. Job shops are contracted to assemble most production circuit boards, which are then returned to RAi for finishing work and quality-control testing. All component purchasing, quality control, warranty service, and repairs are done in-house. RAi usually creates all instruction manuals, sales brochures, and technical documents and is often involved in trade shows and dealer training meetings. At present, Research Applications is manufacturing 26 separate circuit board products all within the HVAC industry.

Our designs frequently include many different electrical and mechanical functions for monitoring and control integrated into a small sealed package for hard industrial use.

Research Applications has facilities for both electronic and mechanical systems. The electronics laboratory is equipped for rapid design and testing of solid-state microprocessor devices with digital and analog components. Drawing on an extensive background in data acquisition (using strain gauges, accelerometers, and temperature sensors) and computer design, many electronic and mechanical systems have been developed. Human factors influences are addressed to make product controls clear and straightforward. All microprocessor products are designed with self-contained diagnostics programs. Installation instructions and user's manuals are carefully written to ensure understanding and proper use. Mating current computer design and industrial control experience with an extensive background in data acquisition and human factors gives RAi an enormous advantage in making products that are application efficient and easy to use.
